Too much of a good thing is always worth doing! It’s easy to fall into a cycle of resisting all that we don’t want. We can sometimes forget to do more of the things that make us feel great (and, strangely enough, we do this on purpose). As women, I believe we could all benefit from filling up our souls with things that serve our purpose and make us feel like we’re about to soar!

If you’re ready to be energized and full of life, I suggest you do this list over and over again!

1. Live bolder and bigger
Let’s face it – staying in the shadows of others, being quiet and a smaller version of you, really doesn’t bring your dreams to reality or create meaningful sustainability in your life.

Where could you be a little more bolder and play a little more bigger in your life?

2. Tell your truth always
Our truth always sets us free! Start speaking your truth now and always. This is one of the most liberating and empowering things a woman can do for herself and the people in her life.

In what area of your life do you need to own your truth?

3. Invest in you
Invest in you in big and small ways. It could be as simple as going to bed earlier, taking time for self-care, reading one book a month to advance your personal growth or career, exercising more, spending more time with friends, investing in support to help you create the life you desire, or upgrading your wardrobe. Women who value themselves and their happiness invest without excuses.

Where, in your life, could you invest a little more?

4. Live on purpose
Define what your purpose is and live it without hesitation. If you are having trouble finding your purpose, seek out a coach who can help you. You are worth it and your happiness depends on it.

Clearly define your purpose. What is it?

5. Own your brilliance
Own your excellence and spend the majority of your time here. You will instantly feel happier and connect to your soul. Eliminate the things that are completely draining your energy.

What are you brilliant at and why aren’t you doing this more?

6. Treat yourself with respect
Having respect for yourself and your actions will ultimately boost the amount of love that you express towards yourself and others. When we consistently respect ourselves, regardless of our mistakes, our life changes in the most forward-moving way.

Are there areas in your life where you’re not respecting yourself?

7. Express gratitude
Expressing gratitude on a daily basis is a very positive and fulfilling practice. You instantly begin to see all the ways your life is truly blessed. Ways to express gratitude on a daily basis include: giving thanks for your life, your family, opportunity, abundance, healthy food, and most importantly, you.

What are you grateful for? Start your list.

8. Make yourself happy
Happiness is an inside job! No one can do it for you or take it away from you. Do yourself a favor right now by making a BIG list of everything that makes you happy in life and start acting on your listed items. Feeling and experiencing happiness in your life creates more happiness.

What makes you happy? Create you BIG happiness list.

9. Act on your desires
Take action as soon as you feel that first spark of desire! If you wait to take action, self doubt and fear will set in. Before you know it, you will have talked yourself right out of the idea and be turned off from it.

Where are you stopping yourself? Choose to no longer suppress your desires – act on them!

10. Stand up strong when you have fallen down
Sometimes things don’t go the way we planned, but it does NOT mean you’re doomed for failure (nor should you curl up in fetal position). See it as an opportunity to succeed in a big, rockin’ way! Put it this way: If everything came easy, we would seriously get bored. When you fall down, connect with the people who will reflect your real truth back to you and get right back up. Stand up, strong for the woman you are, and do what you believe in.

Have you fallen down in any area of your life lately? Make the decision to pick yourself up and move forward!

11. Dance, laugh, love, and move your body
When you move your body you instantly connect to your soul and creative life force. Moving your body releases energy that is blocking you. Moving allows new insight and creative ideas to naturally come to you. Moving your body connects you to your natural rhythm so you can move through life to the beat of your own drum.

How could you dance, laugh, love, and move your body more?

12. Spend more time with yourself
Spend more time with and really get to know yourself. Knowing who you are and what you desire is a powerful step to transforming your life. When you are clear about what you want, you can take meaningful action in that direction. Take time to get to know what you like or dislike. Spend time with yourself and laugh. Positively enhance your own life by creating quiet time for you to mediate, journal, reflect, and openly tell yourself how much you love you. After all, you’re the coolest woman on the planet.

Where could you spend more time alone? Get to know you and understand all the fills you up.

This Week’s Question:

Hi Karen – I often feel like I am standing in my own way. I don’t really state what it is I want for my life and myself. I take a few steps ahead, then seem to stay in the same place for long periods of time. This often leaves me feeling overwhelmed and dealing with huge frustration!

The people in my life think I have it all together, but truthfully – I don’t – and I feel like a fake. I keep thinking that maybe there is something I need to “fix” inside of me? I want to live an authentic life and meet my goals. But I seem to keep waiting for the perfect “moment” before I do anything, which then never seems to happen, so I stay stuck.

Can you please share some tips to help empower me and enable me to live a happier more authentic life while achieving my goals?

Thank you.
Julie - Ohio

Karen’s Answer:

1 – Claim What You LOVE

This is the key to the authenticity so many of us crave.

Learning to claim the things you love and your true preferences is about choosing to NOT dismiss what you love, in fear of someone else’s opinion. Take the time to notice what makes your passion spark and the things that bring enjoyment and happiness to you. If you have thoughts about trying some new activities, or maybe creating some new experiences for yourself – decide today to just do it. Decide to claim what you have been secretly wishing for and wanting to do, and honor yourself enough to make time for it.

We often block the awareness of our own desires and preferences when we dismiss what we love to do. We can get so lost in “busyness” that we don’t bother to mine our own deep delights.

Claiming your own preferences means moving away from the boring and adding excitement and adventure to your life! A new discovery awaits you. By claiming what you love, you step more easily into your authentic essence.

2 – Release Judgment

Your life will instantly change if you make this one commitment to yourself: Leave your inner critic behind!

Suffering and stuck-ness comes from judgment. This includes our own self-judgment –and really – all judgment.

Truthfully, judgment of others and ourselves is just a distraction that keeps us from living empowered. Judgment, in any form, keeps us small instead of living in the biggest, boldest version of who we were born to be. It prevents us from taking action and making decisions on the things we know will improve our life, well-being, financial situation, and career path.

3 – Self-Love versus Distraction

Many of us lead exciting, challenging, and sometimes stressful lives. We are often serving many people – including children, clients, parents, friends, and co-workers. Our self-care is of great importance if we are to be of true service in the world. The better you offer yourself self-love, the more you will have to share with others.

There’s a huge difference, however, between nurturing ourselves with what we truly want and need – and distracting ourselves in order to stuff the stress, or fill the time. Learning that difference and honoring our true needs (i.e., getting a massage vs. eating a sleeve of Oreos in one sitting) is an awareness that will transform your life!

4 – Letting go of the need to “fix” you.

There is nothing you need to fix – period! You are perfect as you are. Yup, flaws and all.

Letting go of the need to fix ourselves is different from commitment to personal growth. When we try to fix ourselves (or try to fix another person) we disempower ourselves big time! If you spend your energy trying to fix yourself, you are actually making a big statement to yourself that something is seriously wrong with you. And, the bold truth is there is nothing wrong with you no matter what hell you gone through. You are not your circumstances unless you choose to be.

Letting go of the need to fix, and instead, fully stepping into you own self-growth will empower you and bring you so many wonderful opportunities. When you are in a state of growth, rather than the frustration of trying to fix you, there will be a radical shift in your gratitude, and in the abundance in and for your life.

5 – Start Before You’re Ready

Having a purpose, taking action, trying new things – all of these contribute to our deep satisfaction and joy. When we expect ourselves to be perfect before trying new things, we cut off so many avenues to happiness.

The key is to start before you are ready, even when you feel you are not ready – or you need one more thing to be ready. You don’t. Let’s face it, waiting for things to be perfect (or especially until we feel like it) is not going to bring us the results we truly desire.

6 – Getting Out of the Comfort Zone.

As you have heard me say a million times, “Get comfortable being uncomfortable.” Growth does not happen in our comfort zone, this I assure you.

Our growth and success are often proportional to how many risks we’re willing to take and how often we’re willing to let ourselves be uncomfortable. We kid ourselves when we convince ourselves to play it safe. Playing it safe is an excuse – that’s all.

Getting out of the comfort zone doesn’t always mean extreme sports, or stepping onto a stage. Sometimes it can be as seemingly small as saying “No”, trying a new food, reading a book you never thought you would, or even trying a yoga class.

7 – Saying No Means Saying YES

When we say “No”, we are actually saying “YES” to ourselves. As women, it is so important to our well being to say no with clarity and without explanation.

When we say no to something we don’t want to do, or be, or have – we are actually saying YES to our deeper desires. Many women don’t believe they can have what they truly want, so they learn to settle, and their lives become filled with secret desires, or the “what- ifs”. (What if my life wasn’t this way…then I could go do that…)

Saying no – without explaining – is really about honoring yourself, as well as other people. When we say no without explanation, we not only free ourselves but others as well.

To Your Bold, Brilliant & Rich Success!

Being totally free from these behaviors will completely transform your life and business in the most unbelievable way.

Imagine with me, will you?Close your eyes in this moment and fully imagine your life free from all that blocks you: negative thoughts, self-sabotage, overwhelm, worry, and self-doubt.

Who would you be and what would do (confident, happy, blissful, really successful)?

Breathe this in deeply. My sense is this picture feels really great to you.

You see, in my life’s passion, I have the privilege of coaching women entrepreneurs to make profound lasting change and be free from negative thoughts and behaviors that seriously hold them back and keep them stuck in their life and business.

This brings serious success and takes you to a much higher level (it’s very exciting).

When you make such powerful changes in your life like letting go of behaviors that do not serve you for good, you will instantly feel amazing in your skin and will finally absorb every morsel of your inner value. Making these changes will empower you to ask for what you need and want verses ignoring your needs or dismissing them.

When you completely let go of procrastination and lack, and spark your inner passion and purpose, you build self-confidence and live empowered. You give yourself permission to do exactly what you want in your business, you take bigger risks and get crystal clear on your value, worth and what you offer.

You will notice money flowing into your life and you can finally do all the things you have been dreaming about. The extra weight melts off your body and you feel freedom in your body. Your relationships have much more intimacy in them.

This week’s personal growth exercise (fun & powerful): You must let go of the things that do not serve you and your purpose in order to receive the abundance you deserve.

Make a list of 25 ways you self-sabotage, self-criticize and doubt yourself.

Make a list of 100 ways your life would be better if you did away with these behaviors.

I want you to really think about this and come up with 100 ways your life would instantly improve as a result of ending the negative thoughts and behaviors for good.

There is NO better time than right NOW to live empowered!

Over the weekend I was teaching my daughter how to change a tire (talk about empowerment). Soon she will be driving on her own and I think this is an important skill for her to know. It got me thinking about 10 skills everyone women should rock in her lifetime for better success and more happiness.

1. Learn to make quick decisions.
Master this one. Make decisions quickly and then move on to the next thing. Each time you put off making a decision, you end up procrastinating, which creates a low energy vibration and leads to disempowerment. You really don’t need to call someone and ask their opinion. You have all the answers, trust yourself and just decide.

2. Get support & learn to delegate.
Learn how to ask for what you need and want. Ask yourself often if doing the task in front of you will get you closer to achieving your goals, and whether you’re the best person to take care task. Know your unique abilities and stay in them 95% of the time. Delegate the rest. Ask for support in the areas of your life you feel you need it. You don’t have to do it alone.

3. Get Back ON Your Bike and Keep Pedaling.
If you fall down, get right back up! Even if you feel like failure and want to curl up and cry…get back up. Resilience is one of the most important traits you can have to succeed in life. If you think that those who are very successful don’t fail, think again. Often, the higher up someone is, the greater the number of falls they’ve had on their way to the top. The less time you spend wallowing in your loss and the faster you get back up on the bike, the more empowered you will feel. Taking action from an empowered place bring much richer results than taking action from a disempowered place.

4. Receive Everything.
A lot of women resist receiving and respond to receiving a compliment by putting themselves down and pointing out their weaknesses – “I don’t know how I did it. I guess I just got lucky.” Own your greatness and accomplishments. If someone wants to buy you a nice meal or gives you a gift, allow yourself to fully receive it. Simply receive graciously. When you receive, you open your heart to more love and abundance.

5. Go Gossip FREE.
Gossiping is a distraction and poison. There is nothing to gain from doing this. It’s a big waste of energy and creates a big bummer vibe. Instead of gossiping, use this energy to create a passionate & sexy life.

6. Learn how to BE HAPPY NOW.
Create inner happiness and practice tools that shift you from a place of feeling down and disappointed to a place of abundance and gratitude. When you’re happy, it will become your set point and you will no longer settle or put up with mediocre results.

7. Project strength with your body language.
Stand up straight in your body and own it! Notice if you’re slouched and constricted or if your body language is open and expansive.

8. Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable.
The only thing that stops us from taking bigger leaps or making change is being uncomfortable. Start right now getting comfortable and stop being uncomfortable. This one will change your life.

9. Say YES more!
We often tell the story that we don’t have time, don’t have the energy or don’t have the money to do something. You will notice that when you begin to say YES, more opportunities appear. Amazing people and more money come in the form of opportunities. Shift your attention to saying YES even if you feel uncomfortable.

10. Claim Your Truth.
The truth always sets us free. When we deny our truth, we create major pain. When you state your truth, you not only free yourself, but others around you and this is really powerful.

5 Ways to Instantly Add More Self-Value

Confident and passionate women know their self-worth. They have daily practices in place that support their inner-value and self-care. They show up for their life because they are committed to living their absolute best and feeling fabulous more than 90% of the time.

Increasing your self-confidence doesn’t have to be so hard. Increasing your self-confidence, so you can achieve really amazing results in your life, comes from a place where you have the willingness to do so. It comes from a place of willingness to see your inner value. It is time to let go of the distorted image you have of yourself, and free your authentic self.

Knowing your self-value comes from within and not from what the outside world has determined. She looks within rather than placing blame on anyone or anything. She takes a ‘no excuses’ approach to creating the life she wants and invests in herself without guilt.

Becoming a confident woman will make you feel happier, more secure andextra attractive. You will start to attract anything you desire in your life with ease.

When you feel confident and really great in your own skin, you will soon find everything begins to flow easily and effortlessly into your life.

1. Be 100% Honest with Yourself. YES! No more denial. It’s really easy to delude yourself, isn’t?

You will save yourself a lot time, pain and money be being 100% honest with yourself. When you’re honest with yourself all you do is gain more – happiness and freedom. You’ll find the answer to those burning questions. Everything you need to know is inside you and the way you access these answers is through your truth.

Get quiet and ask yourself the questions. Trust your intuition and your answer will appear…Your answers are in you already.

Ask your higher self, “Am I being real with myself?” “Does this bother me or not?” “Is this action hurting or helping me?”?

2. Accept Full Responsibility for YOUR Life. This is one of the greatest ways to demonstrate honor and value to yourself and the universe.

One of the best ways I know how to feel empowered is to accept full responsibility for your life.

If you don’t like the results in your life, don’t waste your precious energy blaming others. Add more value to your life instead and take full responsibility. When you do this, you get connected to good, clean energy that is essential for taking actions to make lasting change.

This is your life. Take responsibility for it. You attract to you what you put out to the world through your level of self-value. Action or inaction comes from the level of self-value you hold for yourself. You will find that when you take responsibility for your life, doors will open and you’ll be able to live out the dream of YOUR life.

In accepting responsibility, you show up for your life in a completely different way and reflect the value you hold on the inside to the outside world.

3. Don’t Take Things Personal. If this is a hard one for you, please read or re-read The Four Agreements, Chapter #3.

The reason you’re taking what someone said as personal is, at some level, you are agreeing with and it’s not even true! This is why it bothers you so much. LET IT GO!

Taking things personally is poison; it will keep you stuck, wasting time worrying and analyzing.

Please do yourself a favor, stop eating others emotional garbage. Commit to not taking things personally. You are setting yourself up to suffer and it is robbing you of your self-confidence.

4. Be Clear and Confident. Who are you? And, what is your authentic image?

Write down five qualities you like about yourself. Then write down one quality you want to improve. In doing so, you’ll gain the clarity you need to build more confidence.

When you truly KNOW yourself, you’ll find yourself speaking more clearly, knowing exactly what you want and you will go after it by doing it. Once you get clear on who you are and really liking yourself, you’ll find confidence follows. You become unstoppable!

5. Stop the “I’m Not Good Enough!” ‘Nuff Said! STOP IT! Comparing yourself to others? Obsessing about flaws that only you see? Right? You know what I mean here

Stop analyzing your inside to everybody outside – dangerous. Get off the scale, off Facebook, turn the TV off, and get into your life. Don’t call your girlfriend and ask her “what is wrong with me?” Nothing! This is only fueling the false beliefs you are holding and will keep you stuck.

Instead, if you are not feeling good enough, take ACTION. Do something that fills your soul up and brings worth to your life – HONOR yourself. Go for walk, read a book, take a bath. Then call your girlfriend and meet her fun lunch to celebrate life with her instead of calling her in self-doubt.

Start to feel good and begin to treat yourself like you are more than enough and do this starting NOW! Invest in you! Wake up early to journal, meditate, take care of your body by exercising, having a mental vision for your life and fuel your spirit by doing things YOU love to do. Nourish your body and soul with people and things that only support love.

Soon enough you’ll feel whole in body, mind and soul and will finally feel good enough for yourself and others.

I used to tell myself I didn’t need support. I was in a place where I felt I had to be superwoman; taking care of my daughter, running my own business, doing life's every day necessities and, finally, taking care of myself. I thought I could do it all by myself because I figured I didn't have the time, energy or money to find the support, coach or mentor I needed to make life easier.

Boy was I mistaken! In my blindness (or stubbornness), I cost myself more time, more energy and so much more money in doing it alone than what I would have achieved by resourcing out and getting some help.

The “Trying to Do It by Yourself, Superwoman” mentality does NOT work. You know it deep down, just as I knew it for years.

Being on my own slowed me way down. I spent time doing the things I really didn’t want to do and questioned myself constantly. This almost always left me frustrated, stuck and overwhelmed.

The truth is that we women need support to enhance our life and to allow our brilliance to SHINE. Our precious energy should go into the things we love, so our brilliance is accessed as we create a healthy body, are able to spend more time with the people we love, and create our own life masterpiece.

When we fully step into our true brilliance, we are able to use our unique abilities to exponentially grow our business and have more energy to support other women who want to do the same.

When you say, "Yes!" to support in your life, your level of happiness increases significantly, you actually complete the things you always wanted to do, your relationships are much more fulfilling and you make way more money.

Trying to do it all by yourself keeps you disconnected from your authentic voice, desires and talents, not to mention, exhausted!

3 Reasons why the “Trying to Do It by Yourself, Superwoman” mentality can get you into serious trouble:

1. It keeps you from having it all
You life is not meant to be a struggle. You were born to live in purpose. When you're doing things every single day that take away from your true purpose, you're giving these tasks your "good" energy. You're working hard at things that do not fall within your unique ability or enhance your skills in the area where you're truly gifted.

When you are doing it all by yourself, it is nearly impossible to expand your life and purpose. Think about the possibilities, the growth and success that could be yours if you were able to give all of your good energy to your brilliance, your unique talents and gifts. Success and abundance would explode!

You are a very powerful woman who deserves to be supported so you can create exactly what you desire. You don’t have to keep trying to do it all by yourself.

2. Your precious energy is spent on tasks that deplete YOU
Imagine having the support in your life and no longer feeling depleted from doing the tasks that you really don’t love to do. The shackles on feeling lost disappear. You would really transform if more of your precious energy was invested in the things and areas of your life that completely fill your soul up.

When you are trying to do it all by yourself, your energy becomes depleted and often we become disconnected from what we really want.

If you keep living your life this way, you will become unhappy and dissatisfied with every area of your life. There's a reason we're supposed to spend time on the things our souls long for - it gives us vision into our true purpose, the thing that will leave us fulfilled and truly happy.

3. You constrict yourself from the very growth you desire
Let me guess, you've tried to do everything yourself and it has left you frustrated and exhausted. I know because I felt the same way. When you have support in your life, you move with ease and everything seems effortless.

Allowing support into your life allows you to expand and adds quicker pace than trying to do it all. When you are constantly trying, you are fighting against the current, rather than moving effortlessly with the flow and your whole life is a struggle.

The reality is your life and the people in your life will greatly benefit if you admit in your inability to do it all and align yourself with the support you need. Your business will grow, your personal outlook will be enhanced, and you will finally be living the life you know you deserve.

More importantly, your personal value will increase tremendously, and you'll feel more empowered, self-confident, and a lot more like the "Superwoman" you were trying to be before you took on real support.

Do yourself a favor and seek support now. Your family, your happiness and your life depends on it.

I used to tell myself I didn’t need support. I was in a place where I felt I had to be superwoman; taking care of my daughter, running my own business, doing life’s every day necessities and, finally, taking care of myself. I thought I could do it all by myself because I figured I didn’t have the time, energy or money to find the support, coach or mentor I needed to make life easier.

When you say, “Yes!” to support in your life, your level of happiness increasessignificantly, you actually complete the things you always wanted to do, yourrelationships are much more fulfilling and you make way more money.

When you’re doing things every single day that take away from your true purpose, you’re giving these tasks your “good” energy. You’re working hard at things that do not fall within your unique ability or enhance your skills in the area where you’re truly gifted.

There’s a reason we’re supposed to spend time on the things our souls long for – it gives us vision into our true purpose, the thing that will leave us fulfilled and truly happy.

3. You constrict yourself from the very growth you desire
Let me guess, you’ve tried to do everything yourself and it has left you frustrated and exhausted.

The reality is your life and the people in your life will greatly benefit if you admit in your inability to do it all and align yourself with the support you need.Your business will grow, your personal outlook will be enhanced, and you will finally be living the life you know you deserve.

More importantly, your personal value will increase tremendously, and you’llfeel more empowered, self-confident, and a lot more like the “Superwoman” you were trying to be before you took on real support.

Do yourself a favor and seek support now. Your family, your happiness and your life depends on it.

Nourish and honor your body’s needs and desires.

Find your true tribe.

In the past, this voice of doubt – The How Dare You Voice – stopped her dead in her tracks. When she listened to it she felt awful, began to question herself, and felt ashamed and embarrassed for thinking she would dare to.

The How Dare You Voice keeps you living small and settling for mediocre. When you listen to it, it creates a complete bummer vibe. The How Dare You Voice keeps you from enjoying the process of relaxing or indulging in yourself, it keeps you from taking bigger leaps forward, keeps you from saying no to toxic people and situations, and totally distracts you from taking action towards what you really want. Why? When The How Dare You Voice speaks it creates instant doubt and disconnects from your spirit.

Do you have The How Dare You Voice in your head? If you do, you know because when it speaks you fully feel the doubt. You may feel sick to your stomach, that you’re doomed for failure, or like someone just told you to shut up and stay small. You often feel embarrassed that you even thought to try in the first place.

I remember watching Oprah when she said that every time she wanted to go further in her career, the first voice she heard asked, “How dare you?”

Imagine if Oprah listened to The How Dare You Voice. How different would her life, and the lives of her fans and viewers, be?

I will tell you that every time I’ve moved toward the next level in my own life and career, I have heard The How Dare You Voice. I especially heard it when it was time for me to rest and replenish my mind, body and soul. There was no enjoying relaxation because I kept hearing, “How dare you rest?”

The How Dare You Voice shuts you down and keeps you down. It gets you to believe that you are defected in some way or perhaps just crazy for thinking that you could possibly achieve and do all that you want. (FYI: The How Dare You Voice = a bunch of BS.)

I know and coach a lot of women who hear The How Dare You Voice when they take a step up into the biggest version of themselves or when they take time to honor their body and relax. I have made it my mission to shut down The How Dare You Voice once and for all.

So, the next time you hear The How Dare You Voice, the next time it jumps up in your head or gets all in your face, here’s what you do:

Ask back: “How dare I not do it?”

HOW DARE I NOT honor my body and rest?

HOW DARE I NOT follow my dreams?

HOW DARE I NOT go bigger in my life?

HOW DARE I NOT show my brilliant gifts to the world?

Here’s the real deal: When you honor yourself by listening to the other voice inside you, the one that says, “Go, be, do or have anything you want,” you instantly create more success, are more effective and productive, and are naturally a whole lot happier. You start to spend more time feeling blissful instead of doubting your capabilities.

For my client Loren, The How Dare You Voice was a thought program passed down from her mother that she had carried her entire life. I coached her through the process of detaching and recreating her truth in an authentic and powerful way. I showed Loren that The How Dare You Voice didn’t reflect her inner truth or capabilities – not even close.

If you suffer from the repercussions of The How Dare You Voice, take a moment and reflect: where does this voice come from and is it rational? Are you willing to detach from The How Dare You Voice and let your How Dare I Not Voice take over your inner thoughts? It’s time for you to go, be, do, have and create everything you want.

I dare you.
